PARTNERSHIP OF WOMEN BREAKS MEMBERSHIP GOAL RAISING A RECORD $41,000 & OPENS GRANT CYCLE

Deadline for Preliminary Questionnaires Due July 15 for Expanded $21,000 in Grants

June 23, 2016 (Henderson, Ky.) – Today Partnership of Women, known as POW! (pronounced like WOW), announced the organization has completed its annual membership fundraising drive. The organization raised a record $41,000 and surpassed its goal in its fourth year. The organization simultaneously launched the 2016 grant cycle.

On November 1, 2016 one successful Henderson organization will be awarded a single grant of $15,000 (up from $12,000 in the previous year) and two runners up will be issued grants of $3,000 each (up from $2,500 in 2015). The remaining $20,000 raised this year will be placed in the POW! endowment fund as the organization does annually.

Upon completion of this year’s grant cycle, POW! will have awarded $70,000 to Henderson non-profits in four short years. POW! has given $17,000 the last two years and $15,000 in its first year to worthwhile non-profit projects. $17,000 was awarded last year with $12,000 going to the Children’s Advocacy Center to purchase new recording equipment for interviewing children they serve. POW! held its press conference there today.

POW! is committed to granting roughly half of the funds raised from membership into the community each year while setting aside remaining member funds for growth and future giving in a Community Foundation of Henderson endowment.

The first step in the grant cycle begins with a preliminary questionnaire which is available on the website www.POWFund.org beginning today or by request via email at info@POWFUND.org. Deadline for the preliminary questionnaire is Friday, July 15, 2016 at 5 p.m.

Only organizations in Henderson County, Kentucky, that serve residents of Henderson County are eligible to apply. This includes 501(c)(3) non-profits as well as governmental agencies including educators with school-based projects and other programs in Henderson County that have a 501(c)(3) non-profit designation fiscal sponsor.

Non-profit project areas that will be eligible for funding are as follows:

POW! Partnership of Women is an organization made up of women motivated by the desire to create positive social change by collectively pooling financial resources to fund programs that invest in the advancement of our community. POW! garners gifts of all sizes from a broad base of women donors to support POW!’s grant-making objectives as well as increase the education and advocacy work on the benefits of long-term and sustainable giving. Annually, POW! collects membership gifts endowing half of the monies and granting the other half in a given year — growing the individual size of the grant each year with help of the Community Foundation of Henderson and the Western Kentucky Community Foundation of which POW! is an affiliate of both foundations.
